Carrick

Until the closing of the Grand Canal Company in 1960, Carrick was a major river port for timber, cement, hardware and Guinness. It is now a picturesque tourist town and has a successful rowing club which was established in 1827. Members of the club can often be seen training on the river. River cruises operate daily throughout the season.
